Cold. Nature's cruel beast.
For the wildlife and inhabitants of Glacier Bay it's a part of daily life. Ingrained in them from the days and years spent in the unforgiving environs.
Coming in 2022 to Disney's Animal Kingdom in Orlando, FL will be an all new experience unlike anything seen in any Disney park around the world. 14 acres of stunning scenery, impressive animal exhibits, a Scandinavian village, adventure and discovering what lies in the midst of all that ice and snow. Modeled after the imagined, but never realized Glacier Bay (Hong Kong/Tokyo) and Scandinavian village (EPCOT) projects, guests will be able to enjoy this combined vision that not only enhances the park, but also stays true to the vision Animal Kingdom established at it's opening in 1998.

The new land will be adjacent to Asia and Africa and blend seamlessly with Everest in the background as you transition into the changing scenery. With multiple entry points, the village of Zinthorp will be your first stop in your visit to Glacier Bay as you make your way out of the snow covered forests. If walking is not your thing, or it's just too cold, hop aboard an expanded Wildlife Railroad for an alternate vantage point through the forest with a dedicated stop in the village.
Upon arrival in Zinthorp, take in your surroundings, the architecture, and the sights around you. No longer quite the booming fishing village it once was thanks to technology, you'll gain an apreciation for the residents who still call this place home. Living in this part of the world is no easy task and wandering the streets, you'll feel the bleakness of winter in contrast to the beautiful environs througout the land.
While in town, you'll want to stock up on provisions at Gledfiddich Tavern and get any supplies needed for the family in the various local shops. While the it may be short on sandy beaches, you'll have ample opportunity to experience the area up close and personal. Various wildlife exhibits along the Tiaga Trail await you as you make your way out of the village. Marvel at their survival skills and how they've adapted over time to co-exist in the beautiful yet demanding conditions. Other options include a brand new C-ticket ride, Arctic Voyage, a boat ride through stunning scenery filled with animatronic wildlife as well as an interactive journey, Glacier Bay Adventures that will lead you in and around the land.
Not much was known about the area prior to the village's existence beyond a few polar bears, and the seemingly endless supply of ice formations. After people started arriving and the town was built up, there were stories of strange creatures deeper into the Arctic. These sightings prompted S.E.A. member Dr. Bastion Berg to make his way to Glacier Bay to study this wildlife firsthand. After his arrival, he built a technological marvel of a research station at the edge of town for his base of operations. You can visit the station and relive his work and adventures in an amazing E-ticket ride, Beyond the Lost Ice.
Near the water in the center of the land as you walk away from the Village, an old fashioned post hangs on the rail, with a notice for all to read. It says:
